Walt Carey


Walt retired in 2005 after a 30-year career in the food manufacturing sector where his focus was on environmental compliance, computer integrated manufacturing and safety. He was also founder and president of a for-profit company that utilized source-separated organic byproducts from food manufacturing operations in composting and as soil amendments. He has advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering and has also done postdoctoral work. Walt and his wife, Barbara, live in Sarasota with their senior rescue cat, Amber. All three travel frequently to their homes in NYC and, most recently, Knoxville, TN. Walt has been on a number of Boards of both environmental and animal rescue organizations and enjoys working on the transfer of animals from areas having a surplus to locations where they will have enhanced
adoption options.
