Best In Show: enter your pet today!

Best In Show: enter your pet today!

The Animal Welfare League and its Board of Directors announce the 2nd Annual “Best in Show”! This year, we made it easier for you to participate by hosting the contest online and we’ve included cats!

Local businesses, organizations, families, and individuals are invited to enter a photo of their dogs and/or cats. Anyone can access and vote for their favorite pet; 1 vote equals a $5 donation or 5 votes for $20. The dog and cat who raise the most money will be bestowed with the title of “Best in Show”. The winners will receive engraved trophies, a portrait of the winning pets drawn/created by artist Robin Leonard, and a gift basket. Runners-up will also receive a gift basket. Online voting begins November 1, 2019, and ends January 31, 2020.

Be creative with your photo and don’t forget to add a caption. For example, if you own a restaurant, you could submit a photo of your pet wearing a chef’s hat with a caption that reads “Bone Appetite”. Individuals/families might submit photos of pets reflecting their lifestyle (i.e. paddle boarding, kayaking, playing the piano, sunbathing…you get the idea).

For $100, you can enter your pet in the contest. When your pet’s photo reaches 100 votes, your entry fee will be refunded. To enter your pet, or place a vote go to or stop by the Animal Welfare League with your pet’s photo and fill out an event application.

GET THE WORD OUT…Call your friends, use email, Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, business associates, and vendors. Contact everyone you can think of and encourage them to vote for your dog or cat. We hope you will participate in this exciting event and become a member of our AWL family. Please know how much we appreciate your time and consideration in making this a successful event.

The AWL is a 501c (3) organization that provides safe refuge, nourishment, and love to hundreds of homeless animals each month. Thousands of animals who have no one else to help them are cared for every year by the Animal Welfare League.
