No longer is the artist's rendering on the website the only reference tool. A quick blur of the eyes and you can already get a feel for what the new shelter will look like.

The framework for interior wall construction!

The interior walls are being constructed

Most of the "behind-the-walls" electrical work has already been completed

A look at the back of the building shows off the state-of-the-art dog kennels, which will allow our furry pals to bask in the Florida sun.

The construction crew needed a super-sized forklift to move steel beams used for the new shelter

Heavy machinery made major construction go quickly, with support beams being erected on the first day that the building arrived

Not long after the building arrived, the shelter staff was amazed to see the framework constructed in under a week

Ground Breaking

Friday, September 9th, 2005 marked a historic event in the history of the Animal Welfare League. After many years of dreaming, planning and unforeseen delays, ground was at long last broken for our new state-of-the-art facility. In a clearing behind the present building, Jim Nahl, Vice president of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Building Committee, dug the first shovelful of soil to signifying AWL's leap into the future.
Let the building begin !
